The last time I talked about my weight loss here I was at 327 pounds. Today the scale greeted me with 254 pounds. This brings my total weight loss 119 pounds in all. I've been happy with the journey, and my body feels much better. I can walk a flight of stairs without turning the building into a vacuum by sucking in all of the oxygen. I can walk a parking lot without sweating through my clothes. I can play with my kids without having to take breaks. It feels good.
I've slowly let up on the keto lifestyle, and have been living a low carb lifestyle instead. I have stuck with the 25 carbs or fewer per day thing, with the Friday-night cheat meal to enjoy whatever food my family wants to enjoy. I still eat a lot of the same things as I did when I was in keto, however I've introduced Carbquik into the mix; which if I understand correctly, can knock you out of ketosis due to it's grain content.
Regardless of my diet now, I have only 29 more pounds until I hit my final goal of 225 pounds. I'm not sure where that goal came from, as I wouldn't mind being anywhere from 200 to 225, but if I set the goal a little higher, hitting it should be easier. Once that goal is achieved, getting to somewhere between 200 and 225 shouldn't be much harder. So for now I will stick with the 225 goal and see where that takes me.
A lot of people that know me are always full of questions, such as what do I eat, what recipes do I use, etc. Although it's hard to share exact recipes by reciting them, I typically tell them keto is about eating a lot of meat and cheese and staying away from sugar and starch. I would recommend everyone to start out going through keto for a year or so, and then slowly easing up to low-carb eating, as eating low-carb affords a little more freedom than keto does; however, sticking to keto as a lifestyle couldn't hurt either.
One of the things I want to talk about at some other point is intermittent fasting, and how IF and keto basically go hand-in-hand, and my thoughts on the entire process. But for now, I wanted to share an update on my weight loss in case any readers out there were curious about where I was at currently.
If you have any questions regarding the keto process, or what else I might have done in the time since I started on March 3rd, 2017, I will be happy to answer any questions you have.
